ABSTRACT: Polyurethane water dispersion (PUD) without N-methyl pyrrolidone (NMP) and organotin was successfully prepared by amination of dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA) as a hydrophilic chain extender. The effects of amination process on the preparation process and dairy properties of PUD were studied, and the structure and properties of the film were characterized. The results show that:
 
(1) Waterborne polyurethane dispersion without organotin and NMP was prepared by DMPA amination process without NMP and organotin catalyst.
 
(2) The properties of waterborne polyurethane film prepared by amination, especially water resistance and other chemicals resistance, are better than those of PUD prepared by organotin catalytic process.
 
(3) The process is simple and environmentally friendly.
