With the rapid development of the plastics industry, plastic products are widely used in all walks of life and become one of the indispensable materials for the national economy and national defense construction. However, the plastic itself is not ideal for environmental aging resistance such as ultraviolet light, and various defects are often produced on the surface during the processing and molding process. Therefore, surface coating is required to give the plastic a special color or a certain luster, and cover the plastic surface. The flaws make it have a more attractive appearance [1-2].
Plastic coatings include ordinary plastic coatings and engineering plastic coatings. When used in ordinary plastics such as polystyrene products, polyester film products and plexiglass products, it can be endowed with friction resistance, not easy to scratch and other properties; when used in metalized engineering plastics such as automobile parts and instruments (such as phenolic products and ABS products), it can be endowed with high hardness, not easy to scratch, high gloss, beautiful and other properties; used in plastic floors, such as polyvinyl chloride floors, etc, can give it is not easy to scratch, wear, low gloss, beautiful and other properties [3].
1 Polyurethane coating
Polyurethane coating has good weather resistance, good gloss retention, good color stability, corrosion resistance, acid rain resistance, good low temperature construction, good coating can be coated, easy to repair, good coating flexibility and has excellent ductility, impact resistance and vibration resistance and other advantages [4], so it has been widely used in plastic coatings. In view of the requirements for environmental protection and resources, the coating industry has been promoted to develop in the direction of low toxicity and environmental protection coatings represented by water-based coatings, high solid coatings, light curing coatings and powder coatings, among which the most important is water-based coatings. Although plastic coatings are still solvent-based, the market for water-based coatings will continue to rise with the increasingly stringent environmental regulations and the gradual improvement of its own technology. Waterborne polyurethane coatings for plastics with high performance and low VOC content are environmentally friendly finishing materials and have broad application prospects [5-7]. This paper mainly introduces waterborne polyurethane coatings for traditional plastics and modified and functional polyurethane coatings.
There are many kinds of plastic products with different properties. Because the molecular structure and surface polarity of different plastic substrates are very different, different coating systems should be used for different plastic substrates [8]. However, waterborne polyurethane has many advantages such as no pollution, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, adjustable hardness and so on, and has high cost performance.
